Special Projects

Every now and then you come across a project that you can call special! We initiated an online training program to assist non-aboriginal people gain a better understanding of the aboriginal culture while enhancing the retention of aboriginal people in Canada’s workforce. This program, now offered online, consists of a general culture module, a three module “national core program” and a fourth module reflective of the aboriginal community in your region. Clients for this program include the Province of Nova Scotia and other National Chains representing thousands of people. This is a large undertaking and not all modules have been built but they are coming online as demand is dictating.

The program is important as it is one of the first programs of its nature endorsed by the Assembly of First Nations and the National Chief Phil Fontaine.

Another special project was/is the creation of the National portal www.buildingcapacity.ca. As mandated by the Chief and Council of the Millbrook First Nation, Millbrook Technologies will work with other First Nation communities in the establishment of community portals that offer targeted training for their citizens. Garden River First Nation was the first to join the network of First Nation communities to build their own education portal and has begun to offer programs to both aboriginal and non aboriginal business.
