Millbrook Technologies today announced a new initiative that aims to build the technological capacity of Aboriginal communities. Building on each others strengths has long been a practice of aboriginal communities and it is an extension of this that Millbrook Technologies aspires to do.

The objective of the initiative is to establish a Pan-Canadian network of strategic alliances of aboriginal communities that will actively participate in the delivery of online capacity building personal and community training programs. Strategically positioning aboriginal communities to capitalize on their local and regional strengths will enhance economic growth opportunities specifically in the growing knowledge based economy.

The Garden River First Nation is the first to partner with the Millbrook First Nation and will soon be offering personal and community capacity programs on their customized virtual campus. “The opportunity to become involved in the technology industry, specifically the online learning industry is and will be of great benefit to the Garden River First Nation”, stated Gerry Lessage, Director of the Garden River Development Corporation.

Aboriginal communities will strategically position themselves and leverage technology to capitalize on Federal and Provincial procurement strategies that promote aboriginal involvement in Major Crown Projects, (MCP’s)
